"flag & forget" technology

Connexion uses radiologist's existing dictation set-up
Flag exams needing to be reported during dictation and then forget about them!

Connexion enables radiologists to flag exams for reporting without interrupting the workflow of the doctor. The radiologist simply uses the verbal code "F1" to flag exams for reporting. Connexion handles everything else for the radiologist.

Connexion's integration server monitors all radiology results and then aggregates exams that have been flagged by radiologists. The collected exams will then immediately be displayed in Connexion's Call Document Assistant (CDA) user interface for communication to the referring physician. The client can either provide the communication specialist or use PhyQuest's professional services to perform communication instead.

reporting exams

Connexion's HIPAA compliant Call Document Assistant (CDA) is web-based and can be accessed by your communication specialist, quality improvement officers and radiology managers from any computer with an internet connection. PhyQuest has designed the CDA to optimize the effectiveness and speed of the communication specialist.

Connexion's CDA is essintial to efficient communication
Connexion's CDA is essential to efficient communication.

The CDA is programmed to be trained by the user and will remember which groups referring physicians work in and the appropriate communication contacts in the group. This enables the communication specialist to report multiple results in a single phone call.

Connexion's CDA requires the communication specialist to confirm the patient in the referring physician's office. If the patient is not confirmed, the exam is red flagged and a notification is delivered to the client's assigned Quality Assurance officer.

Once a patient is confirmed, the contact in the referring physician is notified that the patient had significant results and follow-up is necessary.

The CDA then guides the communication specialist through the process of verbally notifying the appropriate contact about the significant finding. As a mandatory process, the CDA records in its database the contact's name, the date and time communication occurred, any special notes about the communication taken by the communication specialist and any errors that occurred during the communication process.

communication audit trail documentation

Connexion then takes additional measures to alert the referring physician about the significant results. There are several methods of notification which can be altered based on preferences of the referring physician or his delegated contact:

Electronic
Connexion will register and verify the contact's e-mail address. The responsible contact will then receive messages that contain a link to Connexion's 128-bit secured server to view the significant results report. Connexion records any of the user's activity on the report viewing server as part of the report's communication log.

Connexion's database stores the communication log
Connexion's database stores the communication log.

Fax
If the contact prefers fax, Connexion will send a facsimile of a list of the patient results needing attention. Connexion monitors all of its fax activity. If for any reason the system has difficulty transmitting the information, the communication specialist is notified to follow-up with the contact.

The paper fax also has information to access Connexion's 128-bit secured server if the contact wants to access the full body of the report. If the user chooses to view the report on Connexion's server, the activity of viewing the report is logged and attached to the patient's report communication log.

Communication Storage

Connexion creates an audit trail by recording every action which takes place in communicating the results. These records are accessible from any computer with an internet connection and are available for the HIPAA standard seven years.
